Hello Again

Hey, everybody. Been a while. Some really big changes have taken place in my life since I lasted posted (moving, for one), but I thought I’d try to get back into blogging again. I don’t have much to share with you in the way of art and video-making, although I have been making quite a few videos lately. Most of them are for Doctor Who, and I feel like I’m making good progress with my editing skills.

There are two main reasons why I haven’t been posting them on YouTube. Number one is that it’s a pain. It takes a long time, sometimes there are hiccups and they don’t upload properly, not to mention I don’t get many views on YouTube to motivate me. XD Reason number two is that, like a true artist, my work never seems finished. It seems like every video I’ve posted, I’ve found something I wish I could change right after. That’s no reason not to post them, but it’s definitely a deterrent. Hopefully I’ll get around all that and start uploading my videos, because I really am happy with my latest and I’d love to know other people’s thoughts on them.

Anyway, I hope to be blogging more often now that my life is settling down again. Thanks to anyone who has continued to read this blog even when I’ve neglected it so badly. XD

On Hold

I guess I can stop apologizing for not posting for weeks at a time. Life happens. Things slip my mind. It’s not that I haven’t been doing anything, it’s just…I’ve been doing a lot.

So, anyone following my Pinterest has probably noticed my new board for The Avengers. Anyone following my Instagram knows that I’ve been watching the Marvel movies lately. Most of them, for the first time.

I’ve now seen the first Avengers, all three Iron Man, both Captain America, and both Thor movies. I’m looking forward to the release of Age of Ultron on October 2nd, and in the meantime I’m watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Now is not the right time to go into all the many pros and cons of those movies (and show). There are things I really enjoy, things that hurt my fangirl feels like crazy, and things I don’t like at all. The list is pretty long, so I’ll save it for another day.

So, I’ve been working on fan videos. I have such fun creating them, but uploading is such a hassle and I have quite a few. Some old, not-quite-finished Doctor Who videos are collecting dust, waiting to be completed and uploaded, as well as some tributes to my new fandom. I’m still trying to get to those, but I’m afraid I have more videos hiding away on my computer than I do on YouTube. I have four videos about Marvel characters that are awaiting a final round of changes. Hang in there, I will try to get them uploaded for everyone to see. :)

P.S. While I’m at it, I thought I would mention my doll blog, Likeness of Life. I know it hasn’t been updated for a while, but for those of you who read it, it’s not forgotten about. I’ve been busy with some other things, and a good bit of my free time is spent feeling kind of wiped out. I am planning to get back to work on it, but I just don’t know when. Just know that it’s not ended, it’s on hold. :)

stars dance

I’m back! I told you I was busy working on some iMovie projects. Well finally, I have a video ready for the world to see. One day I was listening to Selena Gomez and I heard her song “Stars Dance.” It’s edgy. It’s magnificent. It’s starry. And I thought, here’s an opportunity to create something amazing. Now, I’m not sure if I’ve done quite that, but I definitely tried, and am very proud of the results. Let me know what you think. :)

good news

I’m so exited! Three main reasons. First of all, I’ve finally finished The Falcon Paradox at a whopping 35,000 words! It’s so gratifying to finish a project. I have yet to decide whether to share the story online – I’ll just have to give it some thought. Here is an edit I did for the story – don’t even ask how I pieced all this together. XD

sam-and-saoirse-copyrightedSecond of all, the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer! Oh my gosh! I can’t even tell you how excited I am (well, I could, but it would take way too much time :P ). I’m planning a post listing my favorite moments from the trailer. :)

Third of all, I think I forgot to mention watching the trailer for Series 9 of Doctor Who. It’s super creepy and just a little crazy, but it is exciting and there’s one moment I don’t think anyone can overlook. And I must confess it made me way more excited than it should’ve…

Fav series 9 momentThe hug. The Twelfth Doctor seems to get over his dislike of hugging, and truthfully that makes me very happy. The Doctor just isn’t the same if he’s not comforted by a hand to hold or a hug.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I’ll be back soon with a post about the trailer for Mockingjay Part 2. Until then… :)

imovie & who

Hey there. Been a while. I’ve been feverishly not writing and actually living in iMovie. Very soon, I’m going to have a few new uploads on YouTube. ^.^

Anyhow, forgot to post these back when I first watched The Eleventh Hour. Just because I love these scenes, and let’s face it, he’s still in that place after regenerating where he’s doing things like saying “what” three times just like the Tenth.

twenty-five thousand

Hello, folks. I’ve made it to 25,000 words in The Falcon Paradox! I don’t think I mentioned it, but 30,000 was my original goal and it looks like I’m going to meet it. I’m super excited about that, since a lot of my projects don’t get finished. I’m working on an edit for the story, introducing one of the other characters, but I’m not sure when it will be finished. I’ve had so much fun doing artwork for this story! Since I don’t have any new art to share with you though, I might as well share a sneak peak from the story itself.

I know this won’t last forever. Which is why I have to appreciate every moment of it, even if it hurts. Even when it’s hard. Even if it breaks my heart. Impulsively, I reach out and grab his hand without taking my eyes off the woman. His skin is warm and rough and firm against mine and I relish the feeling.

After a minute I let my gaze wander to his face, and my heart skips a beat when I find him looking at me. But I don’t look away. Not like that first time. I let our eyes lock, and I hope it tells him all the things I will never say.

Can’t say who the people are in this scene, and I’m sorry if it doesn’t make sense – you kind of have to read it in context. XD

Anyways, I hope you like it and find it intriguing. :)

The Falcon Paradox

the falcon paradox blog versionI promised, didn’t I? The Falcon Paradox is the title of my latest writing project, a fan fiction for Doctor Who. This story started out in a TARDIS notebook that I bought recently, but it was only a handwritten rough draft. Using a prologue from a story I never finished, I’m turning it into something substantial and, I hope, quality. As for the synopsis? Here goes nothing.

Saoirse (pronounced SEER-shuh) is a nineteen-year-old from Croydon, England, who’s just moved away from home in hopes that she can leave her dark past and her mediocre life behind. However, it seems that trouble is lurking around every corner in this new life, and the arrival of a stranger during an untimely accident is no exception.

That stranger is the puzzling Doctor, who seems determined to unravel Saoirse like a mystery. Why has his peculiar spaceship, the TARDIS, lead him to her? Why are these strange creatures from outer space hunting her? These are the questions that will lead Saoirse on the greatest journey of her life, and will ultimately teach her that love is a promise, that living life is a choice, and that both will be worth it, no matter how hard they prove to be.

I really wanted to do something clever with this story, because if you’re doing something for Doctor Who, you’ve gotta do the show a little justice. I also started reading one of the books in the Doctor Who history collection, which encouraged me because it wasn’t something totally extraordinary, it was just a good, intriguing story that fit the characters really well. Which I figured, I could do too.

I’ve had some fun putting together some edits for this story based off of some of the scenes I’ve written, so I thought I’d share a couple with you. I might as well say, the Doctor takes Saoirse to America to see New York City, which is a really magical scene in the story that I had so much fun writing, I had to make a graphic for it…

Of course you’ve probably noticed that I’ve used Elle Fanning for Saoirse. I was looking on Pinterest for character inspiration, and Elle was the only girl who seemed to fit the character. I had also seen her in Maleficent, so I knew what she sounded like with a British accent, which made it easier to picture her for Saoirse. I might have some more edits to share in the future – I’ll just have to see.

I have no idea whether I’m going to post the story, or even when it will be finished, so I’ll just have to play it by ear. Anyways, thanks for reading, and I hope it’s been interesting. I’m sure I’ll be back with more Doctor Who edits in the future. :)

So I finally did it! I got the updated version of the video on YouTube! I’ve changed quite a few things, and I’m finally satisfied with how it turned out, so I think you guys will like the changes. I’ll also be taking the old version down. I really, really hope you think it’s an improvement. Feel free to let me know what you think! :)
