Dolly Update!!

My gosh, where has the time gone?? It seems like just the other day I was posting that I placed my order with Fairyland for my Minifeé Shushu! Instead it was, well…months ago. And guess what? She finally arrived! She shipped on the fifteenth of last month and arrived a few days later. I know it’s really late, but meet Armani…

Happy Belated March!

Well, it’s been a long week. I know it’s not over yet, but…it’s still been a long week. And by the way, happy March! I think spring is finally in the air, although that little warm pocket we got a couple days back is long gone. Still, I think the worst of the winter might be gone? And yet I can’t bring myself to get rid of my beautiful Christmas blog photo. :P

So, for those of you who are wondering what’s up with Amori, I still haven’t been able to get back into it. I did, however, get some inspiration to write a couple of scenes for it, but they’re more for the ending. It’s bad in the way that it’ll be a while before I reach that point in the story, but it’s also good because it gives me something to shoot for. And man, am I excited about how it’s gonna end. XD

I’m debating whether to share the story and how, because copyright can be an issue and material can get stolen. It’s just something that I’m thinking about for when the time comes, but since it’s a little ways off yet, I probably don’t need to worry about it. But while I’m on the subject, here’s an edit I put together for Amori:

This is something she says in the story that really embodies the problems in her relationship with one of the other characters. That there’s a certain level of distrust, or resentment, really. Because there are things she’s been through that he can’t understand, but also vice versa, which allows them to have a strong relationship despite their differences.

I feel silly. Today was the first time I’ve played around with exporting a Pages document as an ePub document. In case you’re like me and have no clue what that means, I’ll tell you. If you want to be able to read your story in iBooks, and be able to change the text size, make bookmarks, etc., ePub format works. But it is restrictive – it has to be so flexible that you loose some formatting. But I’m going to be keeping it in mind for the future. :)

Oh, yeah! Forgot to mention…I got the Frozen Fever dolls in the mail the other day! So exciting. I don’t have any pictures to post at the moment, but you can check out my Instagram to see my beautiful new girl. :)

Go Go

Hello. This is another quick update. About dolls.

My sister (who loves Elsa) has split the cost with me, and we’ve ordered the Frozen Fever doll set! So exciting. Will definitely post when they arrive. But even though this is pretty awesome, I have to admit…this will be my fourth Anna doll. And so it’s not so awesome as being able to get Go Go, who still isn’t back in stock. The young woman at my local Disney Store was very confident that she’d be back in, but I’ve been checking almost every day for a while. Still no sign.

And judging from past experience, I think I’ve missed my chance. That Big Hero 6 obsessed part of me thinks everyone ought to sign some kind of petition for Disney to make more of these dolls that we love, and would undoubtedly sell out fast – maybe even faster than the first batch. I mean, come on…they’re still in stock in the UK store! How crazy is that? I’ll never understand how Disney works, but I just think that a company that big really ought to be on the ball about this kind of thing. It’s very disappointing, especially because they’re shooting themselves in the foot.

Okay, end rant! Sorry about that. I just had to get it out of my system. I mean, Go Go is one of my favorite Disney characters! I’ve got so many dolls…and not her. It makes no sense. :(!GoGo_Tomago_transparent.png

Anyway, I might do a review for the new dolls, but you can be sure if I get my hands on Go Go, you’ll be the first to know. ;)

Frozen Fever Items in the Disney Store!!!

Hello, peeps! I’m doing a quick update to tell you about that Disney Store update. Frozen Fever arriving in March, they’ve released some cool new stuff in their Frozen store. Namely, new classic dolls:$yetidetail$

I know, right? For $34.95, you can get these two together in their new outfits from Frozen Fever. I’m so pleased! They each have detailed, beautiful clothes, and might I point out…Elsa’s shoes? She finally has those ice beauties she wore throughout Frozen! Of course, Anna is just adorable. I love her little vest. Overall, I’m just really happy to see a unique new set that’s so affordable.

But still no sign of Honey Lemon and Go Go dolls in the Big Hero 6 store. I’m so sad – and actually quite worried that they’ve sold out completely and won’t be back in stock…ever. Like with the adorable talking Vanellope doll they released a few years back. You can’t find her new in the box for less than like…eighty dollars. It’s so frustrating, because I love that character and can’t get her. I’m so upset that it might be the same with Go Go now! :(

But I’ll keep my eyes open and let you know when/if there’s a change. :)

Progress on LOL + BH6 Items in the Disney Store!

Hey, peeps! I’ve been a total lazy bones about writing on Amori lately, but I’ve been cooking up some new ideas for it, and for another story I’m hoping to start after Amori is finished. So never fear! I just did a brainstorming session with my sister, and am going to be traveling back to District 13 again, before taking a trip to Scotland, possibly, for my next novel. And, that’s not literal, by the way. :P

The dolls have been working hard, though! Despite the trials in their little lives, they’ve not failed to keep posting about it on Likeness of Life! Head over there now if you’d like to catch up with the latest goings-on in the doll community! XD

Also, I must admit to stalking the Disney Store for Go Go Tomago dolls. I check the Big Hero 6 page just about every day, waiting for when I’ll be able to snatch my new favorite character. Though they haven’t gotten her in, they do have more of the plush toys, Funko Pops, and action figures than normal. Click here to check it out! Maybe this means they’ll be getting more and more stuff in stock as the release date of the Blu-ray approaches? I believe it’s coming out February 24th, to be exact. YAY!! I’m so excited. ^.^

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and I hope to be coming back with some more interesting news pretty soon here! :D

New LE Frozen Dolls!!!

Hello, everyone. Quick update for all my fellow doll-lovers! There’s a certain update that happened this morning on the Disney Store Blog, about some certain dolls that everyone in the world probably wants, and only 13,500 people are getting them. First, let me introduce a teen 17″ Elsa (edition size 5,000):

LE Elsa Doll - Frozen

And a 17″ Anna, wearing her outfit from the end of Frozen (edition size 5,000):

LE Anna Doll - Frozen

And 18″ Kristoff, also wearing his outfit from the end of Frozen (edition size 3,500):

LE Kristoff Doll - Frozen

They’re all retailing for $119.95, and going up for sale at midnight on March 4th (although I didn’t see where it says what time zone). They’re beautifully detailed and articulated, and what I wouldn’t give to have a Kristoff that can actually embrace his Anna. But I must say, I’m a little disappointed that Anna and Elsa aren’t wearing their new beautiful dresses from Frozen Fever:

These dolls will probably be gone in under an hour, as well, so I rather doubt I’ll be able to get them, even if I had a couple hundred dollars to spend on dolls. But for those of you who’d like to check them out, here’s the link!

writer’s block + dolls

Hello, folks! I’ve gotten to 19,000 words in Amori, and…I’m stuck there. It’s so frustrating. But I’m going to do some brainstorming with my sister – see if I can get past the block. It’s not that I haven’t inspiration, it’s that I’ve written some stuff that doesn’t seem quite right. I don’t know how to get to the things I do have inspiration for. I know it’ll work out, because this story has a way of getting past the kinks, but it’s still annoying while it lasts.

In the midst of my break from Amori, I’ve been researching Integrity Toys. With all my previous doll research, you might be wondering (I know I am) why I haven’t at least considered buying one of these dolls. Well, to be honest, Tonner got me first. When I first found out about Integrity, I wasn’t used to the expensiveness of collector dolls, their website was a little lacking, and overall I just wasn’t pleased.

Oh, Tonner has its issues too. If anyone should know that, I do. After receiving one doll defective and another in pieces (it’s a long story – not as bad as it sounds, because we were able to fix the doll minutes after we found out she was broken), I have been looking for a new place to do business. But you know, Ellowyne pulled me in. Then the beautiful Deja Vu line.

The dolls themselves are high quality, beautiful, and pretty good at posing. But their characters, the company’s website, the problems with a couple of the dolls…makes me think they’re overall just mediocre. So I’m looking for an alternative other than the very, very expensive BJD. I still am planning on getting a Fairyland Minifee in the future, but even when I do, there will still be times I’ll want to play with plastic fashion dolls.

So that leads me to what this post is all about. Integrity Toys. Not as big as Tonner, I don’t think, but from what I can tell just from the Internet, perhaps more of what I like. When I read about Ellowyne Wilde’s ennui – her sorrows and woe, it doesn’t make me feel happy to have the doll. Then there’s the thing that Penelope Brewster is basically traveling through all her incarnations without really knowing what precisely is going on (I’m probably wrong about that, but that is the idea you get from reading her description). These things don’t make me feel the freedom to recreate my dolls into my own character – much less a happy one, if I so chose.

I’m not saying none of Integrity’s dolls are on the creepy side. But it seems that some of the most popular dolls are more ordinary people that have a thing for fashion (they are fashion dolls, of course). Poppy Parker is simply a teen model living in New York in the 1960s, Tulabelle is an influential fashion blogger, and the Dynamite Girls are a bunch of friends visiting an indie music festival. The website is nice too and it shows off the products really well.

ASOleDolls > Dynamite Girls от Integrity Toys > Нэве НАЗАД В БРУКЛИН

All of that said, have I found a doll I can’t live without? Am I completely rejecting Tonner in favor of Integrity Toys? No. In fact, if Tonner happens to come out with a beautiful Deja Vu doll, I might be persuaded to buy her if it fits the budget. Same goes for Ellowyne Wilde. But if I’m going to add to my fashion doll collection instead of saving the money for a ball jointed doll, I think I’d like to try something new.

When Integrity’s new waves of Tulabelle and Dynamite Girls come out (if they do), we’ll see what happens.

I’ll definitely keep you posted (no pun intended). ;)

Tiana or no Tiana?

I’ve been wanting a Tiana doll from the Disney Store

So, the Disney Store has this beautiful Tiana doll. Who comes with all sorts of accessories. And her hair comes in an awesome style. And she’s marked down 39% off. And I want her.

Well? To buy or not to buy? Lemme know what you think…

The Hunger Games Barbie Doll Review

Hey there, folks! I’m back feeling much better. The Lord provided the funds for me to buy an external hard drive for my computer, so my storage won’t be an issue anymore! I realized yesterday that I haven’t been seeing any reviews of the Hunger Games Barbie dolls, so I pulled out the big camera and took an hour to get it done. As you may know, I have the Katniss Barbie that was made for the first movie, as well as the Catching Fire Katniss and Peeta. My sister has Finnick, so he shows up too. So, here we go!

Warning: For those of you who might take issue, I photographed my Katniss doll nude to show her poseability, etc.. She’s not anatomically correct, but it could still be a concern.

I’ll start with the Katniss doll they made for The Hunger Games. I’ve renamed her Kimberly to cut down on confusion.
